Healthcare conference speaker on workplace violence

Healthcare workers face violence from patients, visitors and sometimes each other. Kevin Macho brings a police officer's experience and an SPHR's understanding of policy to healthcare conferences, hospital leadership retreats and clinic training days.

Why healthcare audiences book Kevin

Kevin has spent more than 25 years in law enforcement since 1994. That includes service as an Oregon State Police defensive tactics instructor and force-on-force active-shooter scenario training, as both a participant and a role player. He is also an SPHR with a Master of Arts in Management, so he speaks to nurses and front-line staff, managers and HR leaders in the same session without losing any of them.

Programs for healthcare audiences

The rules healthcare employers work under

Health care settings often have their own workplace violence requirements. The Joint Commission's workplace violence prevention standards for accredited hospitals and critical access hospitals took effect January 1, 2022. In California, many health care facilities are covered by Cal/OSHA's Violence Prevention in Health Care standard (8 CCR §3342) rather than SB 553. Kevin builds sessions to support your existing program, not replace it.

This program is educational and is not legal advice. Laws change, and your organization remains responsible for its own compliance. Talk with your employment counsel about questions specific to your workplace.

Dental and medical offices: smaller practices can book a focused on-site session for the whole team, covering de-escalation, workplace violence and the HR basics practice managers need.
